Pete Jr: Dad nailed up the six major horizontal pieces, to give us a safe start, and then we built the house as a school vacation project. The enclosed room was pretty small. . We may eventually have had another level above, open to the air. I remember being up there with my red football helmet, fighting off all comers with a bucket of acorns to throw down. . Barry Henderson was much older than us. He lived at the corner of Helen Rd and had a tree house that he could sleep in. (Helen Rd was named after his mom, who gave refreshments to the builders of the new street & houses.) |
